In a long career as a journalist, full time and freelance, I have sometimes said that I knew something was seriously wrong with The New York Times when I began to see my byline show up on stories that appeared briefly.

It's been decades since I have held The Times in my hands though I have read an article or column on occasion via the Internet because I have long since concluded it cannot be trusted for anything it prints with the possible exception of obituaries.

The Dead Green Treaty

See what our tax dollars are paying for?See what our tax dollars are paying for?As thousands gather in Cancun to sip Margaritas on taxpayers' money and "work" on a new climate treaty to replace Kyoto, some of the smarter liberals who believe the anthropogenic global warming theory are throwing in the towel on the hopeless boondoggle.  Walter Russell Mead of the Council on Foreign Relations and Yale University has a fascinating essay in the liberal journal The American Interest, bemoaning the stupidity and incompetence of the green advocates, all the while believing that global warming threatens our future.

Cancun has kicked off the next round of climate talks, appropriately enough near the ancestral home of the Mayans, the other mystical seers so beloved of doomsday cults.

It's traditional at the beginning of climate conferences to scare the living bejesus out of delegates, but greens are gun shy of videos after the 10:10 splattergate fiasco, so instead the conference was presaged by predictions of what sacrifices (heh) lay ahead of us.  The global green movement wants developed nations to ration everything to stop economic growth for 20 years.
