Posted: 01 Jan 2011 03:13 PM PST The greatest absurdity has been the belief that human beings have any influence over the planet on which they live. The Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the fifth largest of the Solar System's four terrestrial planets. It is the only planet that sustains life as we know it and humans came late to the party.

New Research Indicates That 80% of Modern Global Warming Is Due To Increased Solar Activity Posted: 01 Jan 2011 01:30 PM PST Read here and here. (click on image to enlarge - Solar Activity Events image source here) The deathanddestruction of the Little Ice Age (LIA) mercifully came to an end during the mid-1800's as the world began to warm. The LIA occurred during a time when solar activity was extremely low, as evidenced by the Maunder, Spörer and Dalton minimums. Since the absolute solar low point of the Maunder epsiode, solar activity has slowly increased over the last 400 years until it reached its maximum during the modern era.
As we count the cost of the freeze, Government prepares for global warming Posted: 01 Jan 2011 01:25 PM PST As we emerge, temporarily perhaps, from weeks of the coldest weather since records began – with snow disasters right round the northern hemisphere, from the US and Europe to China and Mongolia – more examples come to light of how the cost of extreme cold is far greater than that of warming. We already have a £9.6 billion backlog to cover repairs to roads damaged in previous winters, and the price of repairing the potholes and crumbling asphalt caused by this winter's even more intense cold threatens to raise that by billions more (even though Government cuts will trim that budget by 15 per cent).
Posted: 01 Jan 2011 10:10 AM PST other federal agencies for raising alarms about global warming. Any Texas granddaddy will tell you he's seen it all, when it comes to weather and climate extremes. Tornadoes, hurricanes, heat waves, blizzards, droughts, flash floods, and storms that bring unique combinations of wind, dust, thunder and hail.
Posted: 01 Jan 2011 10:01 AM PST Here's an amusing video of some polar bears toying with camouflaged video cameras, and by toying I mean trying to eat. What's interesting is, at the end, the announcer claims that the curiosity that led the bears to toy with the cameras will help the species survive. Which is what we've been saying all along — there's no need to weep for the poor, defenseless polar bear. Enjoy: {youtube}tT0O2RyxnkY{/youtube}
Obama's Administrative Tyranny Marches On Posted: 01 Jan 2011 09:50 AM PST This administration is abusive enough when it acts outside its constitutional authority, but it is even more tyrannical when it affirmatively thwarts the express will of the Congress on matters within the legislative domain. …snip… Meanwhile, Obama's Environmental Protection Agency is gearing up to engage in a defiant end run around Congress by attempting to impose cap-and-trade-type regulations by administrative fiat after Obama's failed attempt to shove this nightmarish disaster through Congress.
| 2011 Prediction: Media Hits New "Warming" Low Posted: 01 Jan 2011 09:47 AM PST I was taken aback by this paragraph in a Politico story by someone a colleague of mine styles as the best reporter in DC on these issues. It reveals the media are not only telling us what to watch for this year, but getting an early jump:

More Deceptive Climate Propaganda Posted: 01 Jan 2011 09:27 AM PST The latest attempt to swindle the public into believing the Global Warming/Climate Change myth comes in the form of an article titled "INDIAN TEA TASTES DIFFERENT DUE TO CLIMATE CHANGE" appearing on Yahoo news and other internet sites. In a nutshell tea growers in the state of Assam, India are said to blame rising temperatures over the last several years for both the change in taste and reduced annual yield of production.
