Climate Astrology: Are warmists now claiming extreme weather is NOT LINKED to global warming? Posted: 18 Feb 2011 12:12 PM PST Did RealClimate.org's Gavin Schmidt actually reject one of the 'basic pillars of the climate doomsday belief?' NASA scientist and RealClimate.org's Gavin Schmidt declared in a February 17, 2011 posting: "There is no theory or result that indicates that climate change increases extremes in general." Gavin Schmidt: there's no theory that extremes should rise in general Posted: 18 Feb 2011 12:06 PM PST There has been a lot of havoc in the media world about two recent papers in Nature whose authors argued that bad rainstorms are caused by humans (Min et al.) and that the British 2000 floods were caused by humans (Pall et al.). The idea that climate extremes are supposed to get larger is one of the most omni-present manifestations of the climate doomsday religion. |
Coral Reefs Expand As the Oceans Warm Posted: 18 Feb 2011 12:04 PM PST Image via Wikipedia Hold onto your hats, this will come as quite a shock. Well, not really—unless you count yourself among that pessimistic bunch who sport blinders that only allow you to see bad things from global warming. And if you are one of those poor souls, you better stop reading now, because we wouldn't want reality to impinge on your guarded (and distorted) view of the world. |
House votes to block EPA's global warming power Posted: 18 Feb 2011 11:58 AM PST Image via Wikipedia The Republican-controlled House has voted to block the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating greenhouse gases that scientists say cause global warming. The 249-177 vote added the regulation ban to a sweeping spending bill that would fund the government through Sept. 30. The restriction is opposed by the Obama administration, which is using its regulatory powers to curb greenhouse gases after global warming legislation collapsed last year. The administration also says the ban would cost thousands of construction jobs. |
Sen. Inhofe turns tables on global warming ambushers — and gets it on tape Posted: 18 Feb 2011 07:01 AM PST Ambush journalism tactics are often effective, unless, of course, the target is as on his game as Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Inhofe. In recently released footage, a pack of global warming alarmists, led by journalist Mark Hertsgaard, attempt to surprise Inhofe after waiting an hour and a half outside a hearing of the Committee on Environment and Public Works. |
Posted: 18 Feb 2011 06:59 AM PST Image via Wikipedia The brightest hope for America's energy independence has been shut down by an Interior Department that says it wants to review the rules for leases. It really wants to kill off oil altogether. The game is this: Say that you want to find domestic oil and gas in a "smart" way, so you have to study things for a while. Then let enviros tie you up in court to block what you really don't want to do anyway, increase America's supply of domestic energy, keeping jobs and money here. |
The Sad State of the State of California Posted: 18 Feb 2011 06:54 AM PST Many must be wondering whether the state of California is beyond repair. This is particularly true after the November 2010 elections when its citizens voted for the same politicians that have brought them the same failed policies. As deficits mount and taxes increase, productive people and enterprises are leaving California for more hospitable states. Inevitably, there will be a tipping point when the state divides between a large welfare population that controls the vote and the rich who live in gated communities but whose tax revenues cannot support the state's obligations. |
How the green lobby smears its enemies Posted: 18 Feb 2011 06:49 AM PST Image by James F Clay via Flickr To those of us who were children between the early 1960s and and the early nineties, Johnny Ball was always something of hero. First he presented Play School, later he presented the maths entertainment series Think Of A Number. We liked Johnny. He was always smiling, always engaging. He was one of us. Then later, he went on to enjoy even greater credibility by being the dad of Radio 1 (now Radio 2) DJ Zoe Ball and therefore the father in law of DJ Norman Cook aka Fat Boy Slim. |
